On 11 September Chelmsford entertained Southchurch Croquet Club to the second of our Coralie Cup matches and ran out convincing winners by 97 hoops to 71. Ten players represented the club: Anne, Betty, Bob, David D, Karen, Keith, Len, John S, Judith and Sheila H. Following our win at Tipps Cross earlier in the year it is likely that we will retain the cup but Tipps Cross still have to play at Southchurch before the final outcome is known. As usual this friendly form of competition which involves 24 seven hoop games proved popular and, quite by chance, enabled Dave Brown, Alan and Louise Cornelius some worthwhile practice before their semi-final with Enfield East which was staged at Writtle two days later. An account of that exciting match can be viewed on the excellent Enfield Croquet Club website.
