MALDON PAVILION 10 CHELMSFORD 8 Our hopes of finishing as winners of the Eastern Area of the EACF Handicap League perished on 12th August as we were narrowly beaten at Forrester Park Golf Club. Although an evenly contested game in terms of games won it has to be admitted that Maldon, by virtue of several one sided wins, outscored us on hoops by 109 to 80. Our team of John S, Tony F, Anne and Betty had difficulty playing the lawns although John and Tony seemed to have less of a problem in winning their doubles and three each of their singles games. Several shots uphill required the use of brute strength to reach their intended target but, as mentioned before the match, it was the same for both sides. Our congratulations must go to our friends at Southchurch Park who are now certain to win the Eastern Area and we wish them well in their remaining games.
